The Regal 2 battery with its solid state switch is a fantastic device but occaisionally you may find a customer, (or yourself) has a battery that starts to die before its time. The batteries should normally last well over 6 months to a year depending on your usage and their popularity may well be their failing in the occasions when they fail before this time period.
However, there is a solution that I was told about that has successfully ressurected several, thought to be defunct batteries.

The tools needed are an ear bud…the sort you use to remove wax from your ears! and a pin…dress pin rather than a drawing pin…the sort that my wife uses to pin a hem on a pair of trousers etc..

First thing to do is to give the inside rim that connects to the cartridge a good clean. Wet the ear bud and roll it around the inside rim of the Regal 2 battery.
Then take the pin and locate the small hole in the centre of the same contact area on the battery. It should penetrate…but dont force it. Just wiggle it a bit and stop when you reach a feeling of resistance.

Thats it….hopefully when you plug your cartridge back in, all will be good…I have found this actually improves the performance. I think the problem is that gaps occur between the contact surfaces causing a film of oxidation that prevents a clean tranference of charge.

This simple maintenance regime should keep you trouble free…
