Nicmaxx Review – Sherry, California

Name: Sherry
My Nicmaxx Review:

I had tried an e-cigarette before but was majorly unhappy with it. I smoked light cigarettes yet no matter how hard I would hit on it, I’d get very little satisfaction and still craved real cigarettes too often. One day I hit so hard the pouch exploded in my mouth, it was horrible. It taste horrible and my mouth went numb – completely turned me off to it. Then after I discovered the low cost of rolling my own tube cigarettes with 100% pure tobacco – I still had the issue of the home rolled cigs losing the cherry often, making it a bad choice when I was not at home where I could deal with it.

Decided to try the e-cig again – the same lady who helped me chose my rolling machine and tobacco told me about Nicmaxx. She said that the cartridges were harder to find – where as other e-cigs were mostly all standard and the cartridges were interchangable – BUT Nicmaxx had a stronger hit and was more like a real cigarette. She took it out of the pack and let me try it…The first hit I took too much and it made me cough, just like taking too big of a hit on a strong cig might do. Next hit I paced myself. WOW! What a pleasure!!! The flavor was much more realistic then the last time I tried it. There was satisfaction in it. The weight and feel of it is like a fine writing pen in the hand, with the matte black finish. It’s not as short as a king cigarette, yet not quite as long as a 100. Being a 100 smoker, I liked the feel of this longer e-cigarette. Since I started using it, I hardly smoke real cigarettes anymore. And that was never my intention…It won’t be long before I will not be smoking real cigs at all! I am soooo stoked!

E-Cigs v Big Pharma – The $100 Billion A Year Fight For 100 Million Lives

Its not a figure that has been quoted much when talking about the determination of the pharmaceutical industrys attempts to get electronic cigarettes banned all over the planet. The usual figure that is bandied around is the $4 billion dollar industry in cessation devices. (Patches and Gums etc).

Now that is not to say that a $4 billion dollar industry is not one that most market leaders would not want to defend by whatever means necessary but it pales into insignificance against $100 billion dollars a year revenue.

$100 Billion Dollar A Year?

First question I expect is where did you get that figure from of $100 billion a year?

Well I did a quick search for the health industry cost of smoking related illness and came up quickly with the figures for the US, Canada and the UK ( see bottom of article for relevant sources) and the estimated cost for these three countries amounts to a little over the $100 billion dollars a year figure.

Now not all that amount will be spent on pharmaceuticals, drugs, supplies etc but im guessing that a good proportion of it will be, making this a little more important to Big pharma than the gum and patch industry.

The problem with electronic cigarettes is that they work. A recent clinical trial showed them to 54% effective for people who had no inclination to quit smoking. Thats 10x the effectiveness of the patches and gum.

But the saddest fact is that pharmecutical companies dont want people to quit smoking. They want them to smoke and get ill. Why? So that they can sell the billions of dollars worth of drugs to manage their illness. Healthy  people dont need drugs and therefore are no longer able to be a drug company customer. And without customers pharmaceutical companies do not make money. It’s as simple as that.

So whilst politicians are being lied to or paid off in the name of safety and regualtion be aware.

In my opinion, Electronic cigarettes are the greatest leap forward in public health since innoculation. At no other time has a simple device mechanism been able to achieve such a mass boost to the health of potentially over 100 million people (in the countries quoted).

In terms of health cost savings to the UK National health service, it could be the difference between sink or swim in terms of the current spiralling cost of the NHS. And that is not taking into account for the increase in productivity of a healthier workforce.

In the US it would make a big dent in the crippling cost of medicare not to mention health insurance premiums which make an even bigger dent to small companies trying their best to provide employment and benefits to ordinary folk.

So if you smoke e-cigs, or tobacco and dont want corporate greed to continue to destroy our health in the name of safety (for safety read profit), its time to stand up and be counted. This is one fight that we cannot afford to let the pharmasoles win!

Ecigs South Carolina – A News Item

Smokers are starting to speak out about electronic cigarettes and the ecig message has reached ABC news in South Carolina…here is a great report about what one smoker of 41 years has experienced.

LADSON, S.C. (WCIV) – Ron Sena smoked a pack-a-day for 40 years. His addiction to nicotine followed him everywhere he went – even in the Intensive Care Unit. But it wasn’t until he was introduced to electronic cigarettes that he was able to get rid of his tobacco habit.

“September 23rd, 2010 was basically the day I switched over,” he said.

After the patch failed, Ron decided to try “vaping”. In no time, Ron became a believer and started his own company called Carolina Vapor.

“I’ve got a waffle flavor, dewberry, cotton candy, root beer, cinnamon red hot, Carolina waffle, American cherry.”

As Ron began to feel better, he recruited other smokers to try the alternative.

“For the most part, a lot of these guys will call me back a week later, ‘it’s great’, ‘I love this thing’, ‘I haven’t had a cigarette since last week’ or ‘I’m down to maybe two cigarettes a day versus two or three packs a day,” said Ron.

Electronic cigarettes release water vapor and produce no second hand smoke. However, they are not FDA approved and there is very little research to show how healthy they are.

“The base is propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin. Those are the two main liquids,” Ron said.

Dr. Michael Spandorfer is a pulmonary physician with Roper St. Francis Medical Systems.

“Those chemicals are relatively inert. They are a slightly fatty type of material which once inhaled can induce some lung disease,” said Dr. Spandorfer.

Still, Dr. Spandorfer says there are far less chemicals in e-cigs than there are in tobacco cigarettes.

“There are more than a thousand other chemicals in a tobacco cigarette than one would find in an electronic cigarette.”

While there are fewer unknown chemicals, electronic cigarettes still contain nicotine.

“It is a drug and they do have side effects,” said Dr. Spandorfer.

Nonetheless, smokers who have switched to vapor cigs say they feel healthier.

“You wake up in the morning and you can breathe. Sinus trouble is a whole lot less. The cigarette cough goes away,” said Chris Bellew, a pack and a half-a-day smoker for 41 years.

“Food tastes better. I can keep up with my four grandkids that are down here,” said Louis Bucci, a 40-year smoker.

“I can breathe better when I’m walking down the steps. It’s just all around a good thing,” said Samantha Barfield, a young mother of one.

While there is no sure evidence, the folks who use vapor cigs believe they are a healthier option.

“I’ve gone to multiple websites and every single one of them will sit there and say, ‘we can not say that this is a healthier alternative for you.’ But, my own personal experience is, yes, it is a healthier alternative,” said Michelle Ponoski, a 32-year smoker.

Dr. Spandorfer says e-cigs should only be used as a way to help a person quit smoking. He says they should not be a permanent lifestyle.

“If they’ve made the change from active tobacco smoking, now to these electronic cigarettes, then they probably are ready whether they believe it or not,” Dr. Spandorfer said.
